Integrating Homeschool Elements into Public School iHEPS*

Integrating homeschool elements into public school (iHEPS)will constructively impact student achievement, especially in reading, in low-performing schools around the world. The iHEPs study is a response intervention to the 2018 research study “Relationships in a Low-performing Middle School.” Studies show when families connect intentionally with organization strategies and literacy students perform better. iHEPS is a continuum best practices focused on family connectedness with schools to addresses the future research needed in the collaboration between schools and families. Relationship development, cultivating climates of connectedness and increased reading performance are aspects that drive results of the iHEPS project.


When parents/families integrate key organizational skills through time management, literacy, before and after school (45 minutes total), children’s overall school performance increases.

Enrichment Programs

Some students struggle to keep up in class. Other students have the opposite challenge. For some students, classroom learning moves through material too slowly, causing a lack of challenge and making it difficult to pay attention and apply themselves in class. Some of these students may even start to see their grades drop—a result of not being engaged with the material. For those who need a bit more of a challenge, enrichment tutoring programs can be the key to getting back on track. An enrichment program is a specialized tutoring program for students who need to learn at a higher level than in a typical classroom. It allows students who need an extra challenge in the classroom to stay engaged and interested in learning. These programs focus on specific subject areas students excel in and allow them to work at a level that feels most comfortable for them. With 413 Apparel's Enrichment Program, students first complete a dynamic assessment that gives the education team an in-depth picture of their academic level. With this information, the team creates a customized tutoring program that allows your child to progress at his or her own pace. Enrichment programs are meant for students who quickly understand class content and, as a result, feel bored at school. These students often need more advanced material to feel excited about (and engaged with) learning. Characteristics of a student who would benefit from an enrichment program: Has a hard time maintaining attention Takes less time to understand concepts than the rest of the class Seems antsy during lessons Reads ahead Doesn’t seem excited about school Routinely achieves high grades Understands the material but receives lower grades
